Mission 1: The Illustrious Bastion
After spending weeks hiking through the rifts of the Corvus badlands to find this place, you rest at the entrance with your clan mates before peering in. Your leader looks at you in an acknowledging way, placing their hand upon your shoulder to praise your hard work. "(Name), why don't you lead the way?"
Within the chasm is a labyrinth of crystals, extremely sharp shards extending to the sky. There is a cool, constant breeze that sweeps through the floors of the cavern. Glistening crystals reflect the image of the small box that sits on a pedestal in the clear way. You approach it with the permission of your leader and place your hand upon it. It begins to glow a faint, yet dark, aura. The sound of tiny laughter shatters the silence and creeps into your thoughts, as a girl appears before you, sitting atop the box in a rather relaxed pose.
This was not the expected result.
"I've long awaited to be released ~ conjuring nightmares in the mind of one being isn't as fulfilling as making them real,"She cooes and shifts, "Oh the joy of being alive again~"
Your leader steps forward. "Where are you hiding the plates, demon?!"
She looks at you for a moment, blinks a few times, and bursts into laughter. "There was rumored a being imprisoned here for luring in mortals and devouring them whole ~ unless you meant the plates he used for his dinner~" She winked, your leader obviously only becoming more annoyed and impatient.
"Although mighty and terrible he was, it is said a mystical object was lodged in his throat, which lead him quickly to his demise." She frowned a little and jumped up, waltzing around the cavern as if music were playing. You and your clan mates stared oddly at her. "They say you can hear the beast's ferocious cries coming from its watery grave. How beautiful it must sound~"
You exchange glances with your leader. Not far from the bastion you saw the banks before the ocean. The girl pauses abruptly and gives off a harsh wince. "One could only wonder, with such a relic in one's hand, could it resurrect such a beast~? Hehehehehehehehe~" Her laughter becomes faint as eventually her image dissipates into nothingness.
Your eyes shift back to the box in the shrine as its glimmer starts to fade, walking over to it you noticed some etchings on the lid. They glow momentarily, but eventually die off with the aura.
